A quiet blog

Isn't it sad. I hate not being able to blog but starting my new job has had many challenges including a lack of spare time to tap away at my keyboard.

Blogging is something I do for pure enjoyment, it challenges me and keeps my brain working in creative gears. I promise as soon as I am back into a routine blogging will resume.

I will have a post on my visit to Santorini once I am back, a Miss Selfridge haul and possibly some McBusted tour photos!

I hope you are all well and if you are doing exams I wish you the best of luck. If you are not then I wish you luck with getting out of bed, we all need a little help sometimes!

Things to remember when starting a new job

As most of you on my little blog will already know I have had a bit of a rough time with jobs recently but my luck changed at the beginning of the month and I was offered a permanent role.
I started at said permanent role on Thursday just gone and I just wanted to lend an ear to any of you who may be in a similar situation.

So first up I am not sure if it is an actual anxiety issue or just how I react but the first few days for me are always impossibly overwhelming and they often end up in tears. I have felt my whole life I am usually good with meeting new people, however as soon as I know I am going to know them for X amount of time I freak out. Panic sets in and I immediately wish to be surrounded by my friends and family. I normally then become incredibly needy and irritating.

This new job has been no different for me, I have struggled to keep smiling but I have to keep reminding myself that change is good.

In times of trouble I find it best to look to the people in my life that I idolise like Walt Disney..

and Audrey..

At the end of the day it all comes down to taking a deep breath, remembering that it is only work and being grateful for the chance to prove myself somewhere new.

I need to remember I can do this. It will just take time.

If you are having a tough time leave a comment, I think talking and sleep are the cures to all of life's problems.

Maleficent Mac Range

As soon as I got the e-mail from Mac with the most beautiful photo of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent I knew I had to have at least one of the products.

I couldn't stop adding pieces to my basket and I picked up the following..

The Maleficent Pro longwear lipglass in 'Anthurium'

The pigmentation is out of this world and I am 100% in love with this product.

Next up is the Penultimate Eye Liner in 'Rapid Black'. I was only saying they other week how I needed a new eyeliner and this one has a firm hold on my heart right now. The only thing I am a little disappointed with is that it doesn't have the Maleficent packaging on the eyeliner itself.

Finally I picked up the eyeshadow quad, I have only swatched this but as soon as I do a makeup look with the shadows I will post it up here.

From my first impressions it seems to be beautifully pigmented and of course the packaging is to die for.

Finally Mac sent me a little tester of the Mac Zoom lash that I have since purchased. It is freaking amazing, my new fave mascara.

As soon as the makeup came through the door I had to have a little play and this was my finished face.

May Primark and eBay haul

Shopping on a budget is a challenge even at the best of times but throw in needing items for a holiday and it gets even more challenging. As you know eBay is my new bestie and over the past 10 days (ish) I have picked up a few bargains ..

Topshop MOTO shorts for £6

Topshop shorts for £4.50

Topshop wrap dress for £3.50

I tend to only really pick up Topshop items on eBay as they are such good quality to start out with.
I also hit up Primark where I picked up these items.
I have never owned these types of sandals but these were too adorable to walk past at £6

I am obsessed with Primarks distressed tees, so soft and only £4!

Bargain.

I just love something about this dress, the pattern is a very dark purple. The dress was £8, totally love it.

The most comfy jersey sweatpant style trousers, already been living in these, £7.

Still on the hunt for bargains but loving all the bits I have picked up. Can't wait to take them on my first holiday of the summer in 4 weeks!

3 for 2 at Boots

As soon as Boots infamous 3 for 2 on all cosmetics hits the stores my head wuurs. All the possibilities, of course being little miss unemployed I couldn't afford to splash out so I picked up 3 items. Believe me this was almost impossible to do!

First up is a re-purchase of my favourite mascara ever. The Maxfactor clump defy, love it. I did opt for this in waterproof, hopefully it will be just as good.

The next was an eyeliner from Maxfactor which so far is just okay.. not amazed with the colour payoff but I think with a tan it will be lush.

Finally is my new favourite lip product from L'Oreal, I am going to do a whole post review on this but here is a sneak peak.

Have you checked out Boots 3 for 2 yet?

Mad week!

This is awful, I promised you all these amazing blog posts seeing as I now have loads of spare time and I have been busier than ever.

First up let me tell you I have found myself a temporary placement working in the marketing department for a local company so do not worry about me. I am still looking for permanent work but it's less life or death now I have some cash flow.

Secondly I have been on lots of interviews at some very cool places and fingers crossed *cross those fingers for me bitchez* one of them will offer me a job soon!

I keep coming up with these awesome blog posts just before I fall asleep and have forgotten them by the time I wake up. Terrible I know.

I will *hopefully* have some fun and exciting stuff up before the end of the week.

Have a lovely 4 day week peeps!

Primark shoe liner review

It is not often I find myself needing to review a Primark item but this needs to be done.

IF you see these, do not buy them! EVER.

They basically cut off circulation to your feet, think I am exaggerating look at this photo..

This wasn't even after a whole day of walking, this was after sitting in the cinema watching Spiderman 2. The price tag may be tempting but they are god awful. Sorry Primark.

Re-discovering hair tools

I bought this curling tong freaking donkey's years ago. Seriously I mean like 5 years+ but only recently have I started using it.

I wanted a soft wavy look and these Toni&Guy curlers delivered. I loved the finish look the only problem was they really didn't hold for very long *sadface*.

This was the result shortly after curling but I did have to go back in with my GHDs to make them hold. Waaah. I am going to try again with more styling products to see if that makes a difference.

Outfits of the week!

It's been a little while I know but being unemployed means you can rock PJ bottoms all day. However there are some days I have had to put on real clothes and here they are..

First up is from when the sun was shining. This crop top is from ASOS it was in the sale a few months back for £2.50. Paired it with my Jamie jeans from Topshop.

Repping the sailor vibe, striped tee from Dorothy Perkins, Topshop Leigh jeans and Taylor Swift Keds.

Both of these were for job interviews, the first is almost totally Tesco. Both jacket and pencil skirt from their, grey marl tee from TKMaxx and Marks and Spencers nude pumps.

Channeling Kim Kardashian in this one, again skirt is from Tesco sale and a plain black tee from Zara.

I will try my hardest to remember to photograph my outfits this week!

McBusted @ The O2

Words can't even explain how amazing that concert was. My love affair with Busted started TWELVE years ago and even after all these years of waiting they did not disappoint.

A full review with pictures and proper sentances will be going up on BabbleAvenue over the weekend so keep your eyes over there.

Primark, Zara and Next haul

Over the Easter weekend my boyfriend and I took a trip up the M4 to Swindon to visit some friends, whilst staying with said friends we visited Cabot Circus in Bristol and I picked up a few items. First lets talk Primark, it was huge and had way to many goodies.

In desperate need of a new hoodie I couldn't resist this sky blue hoodie for £8.

Being in the currently shitty situation that I am I couldn't resist this Peter Pan t-shirt. Never grow up! I think it was £5.

Along with the mint green beverley hills top I picked up in Primark last time couldn't resist this 'I'm in Miami Beach' cropped boxy top. Will definitely be wearing this in Miami beach! Again £5.

One of the softest tops I have ever found in Primark is this neppy top in hot pink. I wish I had got every colour now! I think this was around the £3 mark but I've already worn it hence the guess work.

I live in joggers and jogger shorts are just as good. Couldn't walk past the blue pair especially as I am heading to Greece in 5 short weeks. These were £2.50/£3 each.

I have only recently discovered invisible socks and at £1.50 per pack of 2, total bargain.

I needed a beach bag/can get ruined by chlorine bag. This was only £3 and also comes in hot pink stripes.

The next item I picked up was from Zara and it is the softest top I have ever touched.

With two palm trees on the bust and 'sunshine' written in teenie tiny writing on the neck I couldn't walk past. This set me back £12, not too shabby.

Finally we hit up Swindon outlet shopping where I ventured into Next and picked up these printed trousers.

These were £14 in the outlet and I love them. I am living in printed trousers at the moment so I will definitely get my wear out of them.

The entire Primark shop cost me £35 and the other two being single buys I am dead chuffed with my haul. Hopefully my good luck shopping trip will carry on into my job hunt!

Wednesday 16 April 2014

Oh shit.

Helloo there interweb, how are you all?

I am going to get straight to the freaking point as you know that is kind of what I do. So I took a new job which I started at on Monday which turned out to be a shit storm of lies rolled up into a neatly wrapped package. The job I took was nothing like I expected and as a result I have quit.

Now where does this leave me I hear you screaming at your computer.. this leaves me unemployed and poor! FUCK.

I am meeting with a few agencies over the next couple of days but oh hot damn, what a situation to be in!

On the plus side though this means lots more blogging, creating content for www.babbleavenue.com and generally mooching around. I will of course keep you updated with the events as they unfold, I will also be doing a post over on babbleavenue on what to do when you take the wrong job.

Eeeep. Not really sure what else to say, wish me luck.

£15 necklace

Next seems to have got an amazing new style team.

£22 hareem trousers

£18 beach shirt

£12 necklace

I need to win the lottery waaaaah :(

eBay Haul

Everyone who knows me knows I love eBay. Possibly an unhealthy amount.
Not only do I love it for clearing out my wardrobe and making me cash but also for re-filling it and saving me cash. I have been picking up bits here and there for well over a month and finally got it all together for one monster haul post. So lets go!

Brandy Melville maxi skirt with split £7

Topshop maxi dress (in the style of Carrie Bradshaw) £10

Topshop playsuit £11

Fearne Cotton dress £6

Topshop shirt £5.10

Topshop dresses £7 each

Chicago Bulls jersey brand new £25
Stupid blogger won't let me rotate these picures*
Skirt from Oasis brand new £10

Topshop shorts £4.50

I also picked up another playsuit and Levi shorts that I forgot about until now.

AND on Monday I snagged myself a Marc Jacobs bag for £50 which should be at home waiting for me now.

Totally love eBay but I am now quitting. I have got the pieces I wanted at bargain prices & I don't need to keep shopping. All of this was funded by selling my old stuff so I haven't actually spent a penny yet.
